Privacy Policy
What OkadaDrop collects, why we need it, and what we never do with it.
Last updated 30 July 2026
This policy covers the OkadaDrop mobile apps and this website. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, mail [email protected] and we’ll explain it plainly.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, phone number and email, so riders and recipients can be matched with the right delivery.
- Delivery details — pickup and drop-off addresses, package size, fare and the timestamps of each status change. This is the record of the job.
- Location — the rider’s device location while a delivery is active, so the sender can track it. Sender location is used only to suggest a pickup point, and only while the app is open.
- Payment references — the Mobile Money transaction reference for a delivery. We never see or store your full MoMo PIN or card details; those stay with the payment provider.
- Rider verification — Ghana Card, licence and plate details for people who sign up to deliver.
What we use it for
- Matching a delivery with a nearby rider and pricing it by distance.
- Showing live status and position to the sender during a delivery.
- Settling payment and producing your receipt.
- Investigating a specific delivery when something goes wrong.
- Keeping the service safe — fraud, abuse and rider verification.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your personal data. We don’t share your contact details with advertisers. We don’t track your location when no delivery is running.
Who else sees it
A rider on an active delivery sees the pickup and drop-off address, the recipient’s first name and a masked phone number for that job only. Payment providers receive what they need to move the money. Our hosting and mapping providers process data on our behalf under contract. Nobody else gets it unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Delivery records are kept for seven years, because they are financial records. Live location traces are kept for 90 days and then deleted. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise everything we are not legally required to keep.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Mail [email protected] and we’ll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to Ghana’s Data Protection Commission.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we’ll say so in the app before the change takes effect.
